May 3, 2010 - Congratulations Cheerleaders!
The coaching staff has chosen 10 CORE members to promote school spirit at all home football games. These members are:
Maria Buonopane, Ashley Burke, Elaini Daigle, Nicole Dalamangas, Tarym Dooley, Jessica Franchi, Meghan Kennelley, Jennie Lackey, Brittany Murphy, Zyara Star Worthy.
In addition we have chosen 16 members who are currently working on and/or who have achieved many of the desired skills for national level competition. Those members are as follows:
Shelby Anderson, Sarah Armenti, Samantha Bebeau, Nichole Brooks, Aubrey Casella, Claire Fallon, Shaelah Farrell, Jackie Kelly, Lindsay King, Nicole Meersman, Jessica Merchant, Carleigh Murphy, Alicia Place, Jessica Shea, Brooke Sweeny, Julia Tellier
All athletes will practice together, attend football games, and go to NCA College Cheerleading Camp at BU this summer. Our focus will be to learn how to work the crowd at games and to earn a bid to the NCA Collegiate National Championship.
Final selections for competition will be made in October/November 2010. Competition cheerleaders will be selected FROM BOTH GROUPS based on their attitude, work ethic, and the skills they have achieved to that point. Cheerleaders are encouraged to work on your “off season” fitness regimen and to continue to work individual skills.
I couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to get to work with each one of you this season and help you reach your greatest potential!
Sincerely, Julie K. Flaherty
Head Cheerleading Coach

WSC Cheerleaders and NCA Nationals 2009
The WSC Cheerleaders competed in Daytona Beach, FL this past week at the NCA College Cheerleading National Championship. The team placed 5th in the "challenge cup" competition held last Friday, April 10, 2009. To view a video of the event please click on this link and type in "worcester state" in the search bar.
The Lancer Cheerleaders competed with 11 athletes during the final month of their season which is low when compared to the maximum 20 participants that are allowed by NCA.
"We are extremely proud of our athletes", said Coach Flaherty, "they faced several challenges this season but by sticking together they showed strength and courage".
Thanks to all our supporters for your encouragement!

2009-2010 Upcoming Season
The Worcester State College Cheer Team will work toward competing nationally. Team members will attend camp in early August to get ready for the upcoming football season and prepare for their competitive season.
Athletes are expected to participate in our strength and
conditioning program over the summer months. They can do this
at home on their own or in small groups. This will enable
cheerleaders to gain strength and stamina for their upcoming
competition season while aiding in the prevention of
injuries. Interested parties should click on the conditioning plan to begin
their pre/post season workout which begins May 1st!
